Reinforcement of infrastructure objects with a composite grid is a mandatory procedure during construction. After all, thanks to reinforcement, the erected structure is strengthened through the use of fiberglass mesh, it becomes more resistant to stretching and bearing load.
At what stages of the construction of infrastructure facilities is reinforcement done?
The strength, reliability and stability of infrastructure facilities, as well as other structures, largely depends on the load-bearing elements, which are vertical and horizontal. Composite mesh is used in the construction of infrastructure facilities to extend the service life of the structure, to strengthen it. Stages of construction work, where reinforcement is done:
- during the filling of the tape foundation;
- when laying the 1st row of aerated concrete over the foundation;
- every 4th row of aerated concrete masonry;
- under the openings of windows and doors;
- when strengthening the load-bearing columns.
A big advantage when working with fiberglass mesh is that it does not need to be tied or welded like rebar. Given that the diameter of the composite material does not exceed 32 mm, the mesh is overlapped.
When is it necessary to restore worn-out infrastructure facilities?
Do not forget that no matter how strong the structure is, over time it requires improvement, strengthening, reconstruction. After all, after regular operation, physical wear of the structure occurs. This is especially true for old structures that need strengthening with a strong increase in the load on the load-bearing elements due to the acceleration of aging of individual structural elements or due to changes in the stability of the soil under them.
The need to strengthen the structure, as a rule, is indicated by external damage, which is determined visually. These may be cracks on the walls, windows, distortions or other signs of deformation. Industrial buildings are less sensitive to uneven deformations. However, some warehouses have accidents due to the loss of their stability. This problem occurs after strong horizontal loads that appear due to the unilateral load of the base.
Composite mesh is often used to restore worn-out infrastructure facilities.
Reinforcement of worn-out infrastructure objects with composite mesh has a number of advantages:
- the light weight of the composite mesh facilitates installation;
- the high strength of the fiberglass mesh allows you to withstand high loads;
- high corrosion resistance even at high humidity and in an aggressive environment provides good resistance to salts, chemicals and corrosion;
- low thermal conductivity avoids the appearance of “cold bridges”;
- it is not afraid of temperature changes;
- the service life of the reinforced structure is significantly extended.
Due to the large number of advantages, fiberglass mesh is widely used for the construction of new or improvement of old infrastructure facilities. Also, this composite material is actively used in the construction of load-bearing structures, for exterior and interior decoration.
